Postal Ekadashi Vilakku Trust

Guruvayur Ekadashi Vilakku Mahotsav at Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple is a 30 days' festival held every year during November. During this festival, each day is sponsored by the temple trustees, eminent personalities and also by employees of Government Institutions like the Police, Courts, Banks etc. Prior to the year 2000, employees of the Department of Posts were not able to sponsor the Vilakku Festival and this made the local Postal employees to approach the Guruvayur Devaswom authorities with an application for allotting a day for sponsorship by the Postal employees. This was accepted subsequently and this paved the way for forming a Trust. Initially, there were very less participation of the Postal employees in the Trust activities. But over a period of time, tremendous responses received from the working and retired employees and at present there are more than 3000 members from Kerala and other neighbouring States.

The Trust was initially named as All India Postal Employees Committee for Ekadasi Vilakku Celebration and in the year 2004, the name was changed as Postal Ekadashi Vilakku Trust. A Bye-law was also decided to be followed by the members of the Trust and it was registered under No .181/TV/04 dated 1.11.2004. From the year 2000 onwards, the Trust has been participating in the annual Ekadashi Vilakku Festival without any break and in the year 2025, it celebrated Silver Jubilee after completing 25 years of its participation in the Vilakku Festival. Apart from participating in the Vilakku Festival, the Trust also organises Cultural events for the members and their children. It also arranges Annadhanam, Darshan to the members inside the temple and despatch Prasadam to all its Life members and sponsoring devotees after the Postal Vilakku is over .
